We stayed at my cousin (Inggo Laredabona and his wife Dr. Risyda; a dentist working at government clinic) house at Bandar Al Muktafi Bilal Shah (AMBS), Dungun, Terengganu for 2 nights with our children. We had the most fabulous relaxing holiday in a lovely small city of AMBS. We also visited Cemerung waterfall, 40 km from AMBS, one of the highest waterfall in south-east Asia. After living in Johor Bahru for more than 3.5 years, for the first time, I and my family pay a visit to King Abu Bakar museum, Johor Bahru, which is located just about 15 km from our home. [Click here to see photos].

Dr. Hadi Nur has been successful in getting research grant from The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, Trieste, Italy. The title of the project is "Electrically induced contractile electro-active polymer as catalyst for immiscible liquid-liquid reaction".

Dr. Hadi Nur participated in "Science and Mathematics Research Week 2005" at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Dr. Hadi presented his research achievement in the field of Catalytic Materials and Catalysis. [Click here to see photos and here to see the poster presented].

My son, Farid, happily received an FC Bayern Munchen T-shirt sent by Rino Rakhmata Mukti, my relative, a former student of Zeolite and Porous Materials Group at UTM and the lover of FC Bayern Munchen soccer team. Now, Rino is a PhD student under supervision of Prof. Johannes Lercher at TU Munich, Germany. [Click here to see photos].

Inauguration of Chairman and board of management of Indonesian Student Association at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was held at UTM. This event was officiated by Mr. Maryadi Hadisuwiryo, Head of Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia at Johor Bahru and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nordin Yahaya, Manager Marketing and International Students of School of Graduate Studies UTM. The presence of Mr. Maryadi Hadisuwiryo indicates a strong supports of Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia at Johor Bahru towards the activity of Indonesian students at UTM. I was invited to give lecture on "research and education in university" after inauguration. [Click here to see photos].

YAB Dato` Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia officiated the building of Ibnu Sina Institute for Fundamental Science Studies, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Annual Fundamental Science Seminar 2005 (AFSS 2005) in which I am one of the member of the organizing Committee. On the second day of seminar, we have a tour to Tanjung Piai, the southernmost tip of mainland Asia. [Click here to see photos].

Department of Science and Mathematics, Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia invited me to give lecture on "Scientific Writing" on 2 June 2005 at Le Paris Hotel, Port Dickson, Malaysia. On our return to Johor Bahru, I and my family visited two landmark buildings in Kuala Lumpur: the 88-storey Petronas Towers (the world`s tallest building) and Menara Kuala Lumpur (the fourth tallest telecommunication tower in the world). Prof. Mohd Nazlan Mohd Muhid are invited to give lecture on "Synthesis and Characterization of Zeolites" to 25 researchers of Mineral Research Center, Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia at Ipoh from 3 to 6 May 2005. Indonesian Student Association at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and my family took a trip to Pulau Pinang for 2 days (23-25 April 2005). This activity is sponsored by School of Postgraduate Studies, UTM. We visited Universiti Sains Malaysia, Bukit Bendera - Penang Hill and taste "Nasi Kandar", the famous food in Pulau Pinang. The Journal of Science and Technology, a scientific medium for reporting selected original and significant contributions to new science and technology knowledge of Indonesian scientists and researchers in Johor, Malaysia has been started to receive the contribution of papers from the prospective scientists and researchers.

The 1st Hokkaido Indonesian Student Association Scientific Meeting (HISAS I) was held in Hokkaido University. I was Chairman of this meeting. This meeting consist of lecture by Professor Takashi Kohyama (Laboratory of Regional Ecosystem, Graduate School of Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University) and Mr. Yozo Maeizumi (Managing Director of Kita Gas Co. Ltd.) and presentations by Indonesian students in Hokkaido. This meeting was also attended by Attache of Education and Culture of Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo and Chairman of PPI (Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia) Japan.
